Trying to decide whether Foodom or Blue Apron (or other meal kit services) is a better fit for dinnertime? Here’s a breakdown of the differences between the two from a client who has used both services.

First, a brief description of the two services. Foodom is a service where the client chooses meals from a variety of over 200 options on the website menu, and a personal chef will come to the client’s home to cook all of the dishes in a few hours’ time. The client buys all ingredients ahead of time or the chef can shop for the ingredients for an additional fee. The chef prepares the meals, stores everything in containers, and cleans the kitchen when finished. No subscription, the client chooses the frequency they want to book the meals, the variety, and the quantity.

Blue Apron is a service where the client signs up for a subscription for weekly meal ingredients and recipes. The client is offered about 10 meals to choose from on the website. Based on their subscription, they order the number of meals allowed. Then, on a designated day, a box arrives at the client’s home, and they unpack all the ingredients and cook the meals themselves based on the provided recipe card.

  1. We are a busy family with 3 little kids. I just needed a creative opportunity to bring in new ideas for food for us and the kids. So we tried it. Chef Syd was amazing and was willing to teach me tips. It was a great experience because the kids even helped! The food was so delicious and fresh. And chef Syd was such a friendly guy that thought me quite a lot.
    He also left the kitchen spotless, so I didn’t have to deal with cleaning anything afterwards. I do recommend! From Reneta being so patient with me picking out the menu, till the end!
